College High Wildcats On-Line

This is the sales pitch part of the site, where you can join the Wildcats On-Line more than just visiting the web page. This is an experiment of our host Dueling Modems. If 10 or more Wildcats join us, Dueling Modems will create a private Wildcat intranet (newsgroup structure) just for us. Part of the group benefit will also be free web page space and the experimental part of the deal is putting the web pages up first, hoping the Wildcat membership will follow fast enough the DM owners won't notice what Education Forum host Janet Detter Margul (Class of '73) has done before there are enough Wildcat members signed on to justify it.

Now to the sales pitch! Nobody will join on the strength of what might happen, you need to know what a Dueling Modems membership will mean to you NOW. (Although you do get a free month's to check things out, and won't be billed for your second month until the end of that.) For your $6.95 a month (less if you pay by the year), you get the following:

  • Unlimited access to the Forum Discussion Groups
DM's various Forums host bulletin board-style Discussion Groups based on non-propagated NNTP newsgroup hierarchies. "Non-propagated" newsgroups remain resident on DM's server only, and are not broadcast to the Usenet community, making it a closed and protected environment. Altogether, our Forums offer you thousands of Discussion Groups to play in. You can read and post to DM's Discussion Groups using your web browser or using your internet newsreader. Click here for more information.

  • Your own personal newsgroup
A "virtual living room" for use as you see fit, subject to the minimal restrictions listed in the DM Terms and Conditions Agreement.

  • Access to the DM websites
DM Forums also sponsor web pages, offering access to file libraries, displays of member's works, links to related web sites, and other information of interest to Forum members.

  • Your own personal website
With access to DM resources to make your 3mb of web space great. Members can use graphics from the resource libraries of web page icons, buttons, lines, and clip art. The HTML Team can help you build your home page by working through specific problems and answering general questions in our dm.html.* Discussion Groups. (Included, remember?) We can also design, construct, and even maintain a web site for you at substantial discounts from our usual commercial design fees.

  • Access to the DM IRC Chat server
DM provides real-time Chat services via an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) server. Not only are there many regularly scheduled forum chats, but we could host a regular Col-Hi weekly reunion. Staff is available to help you with your IRC chat software.

  • One POP3 Email account
Each member gets one POP3 Email account, with an easy to remember email address (yourid@dm.net). These accounts can be set up to be purely local, meaning you'd need to log into the DM mail server to fetch the messages, or they can be set up to automatically forward your messages to another email address entirely. For instance, messages sent to yourid@dm.net can be forwarded to yourotherid@ix.netcom.com.

If this sounds good to you before the group Col-Hi benefits (private Col-Hi discussion groups, Col-Hi chat, etc.) kick in, go read about the service more completely at http://dm.net, check out the available forums and the current chat schedule and sign up.

Remember to put COL-HI in the special offer code box!
